All I've messed with tonight was a 3D printed nano goblin look alike that the guy asked us not to post pics of until it is finalized. Betabuilds are fun. If you ever wondered how you can help out other people in the community, if someone needs help testing plans help them out!
I just emailed the mig skins to myself so I can print them on our decent printer at work. Office depot fell through and didn't have blueprint paper. Looks like this plane will be a scotch tape wonder too! I'll load the mig skins up into the plan vault if anyone wants them.
I am also working on my habuish jet. I might do a mig 15 style h stab on it mid way up the tail. That has yet to be decided. I may build what I have so far and go from there. I may call it the "fabu" for the foam habu... lol.
Part of me wants to make a Big Ass Mig (the BAM) which would probably be the size of the F-106 I haven't remaidened yet. Have twin 70's on it and one battery for each motor. Might be an F-18 killer.
I found a 64mm EDF with a 50A esc on ebay packaged together for $30 used, so I bought it. Can't tell it has ever been used. The price was right so I went for it, this is why I have so many electronics. I need to sell some off/donate some. If you know of any worthy donors, let me know.
I have been thinking of building my quad buddy a plane to get him into fixed wing.

I don't think my skins are worthy of vinyl yet. I did find some cheap blue vinyl in the walmart craft section for $3. My epp planes need more pieces of flare. I am never a huge fan of the cheesy stickers they send with them. Except for my wing, those actually looked good. Well, my clouds is EPO, that thing is going to shatter when I crash it I am afraid. The other half of the P-36 center is drying there in the background. 2022-05-17_11-04-46 by Burkeomatic, on Flickr I really need to rebuild this. V2 might have a taller body toward the front and middle for payload. It will have detachable wing tips which I will probably prototype on this one. This gets flown alot, and you can tell. I would fly it more if I didn't have to attach and detach the wing everytime I wanted to transport it. By the way, 3 ton floor jacks can work to balance planes, right? 2022-05-17_11-04-16 by Burkeomatic, on Flickr

Ok, progress on the mini night fury. All I need to do is the wing and the servos. I actually did a wing, but I don't like the way it turned out, so I am going to do another one. Power will come from a 1407 2600kv spinning a 4x4 prop which breifly powered my nanoflerkin... which flite test sent me another one. Speaking of motors, as you know, one of the 3536 motors that I ordered off banggood was borderline seized up. I paid 16 bucks each shipped for them. They offered me 10 bucks today to settle it, so I took it. I figured I could use other stuff as spare parts. I disassembled it, and as soon as I popped that rear E clip off the motor spun freely. It was a combination of the base had been tweaked a little bit, and they had one too many of those little brass spacers on there. It is the worlds crappiest e clip. I need to get another one. Maybe I have a spare in my turnigy motor parts. Anyway, to make things worse, I had already ordered a set of 3508 motors which are larger diameter, but flatter (they would be like a 4230 or something like the way my racerstars are measured, the 3536 motors I am referring to have a 28x14 stator, or they would be a 2814 in this speak). So I found a deal for those on ebay, lightly used, 20 bucks each, they are the ones arcxangle used on his build. arxangelrc.blogspot.com/2017/03/x-uav-clouds-it-is-simply-very-good.html2022-05-19_11-46-26 by Burkeomatic, on Flickr

Got the other half of the mig base mounted to foam board, and some formers laid out. What takes me the most time is taping together stuff and getting it laid out. 20220520_234522 by Burkeomatic, on Flickr

Not tonight yet but I'm reworking the plans to build another Curtiss JN4 Jenny - see Burkeomatics Crash thread. It was a really nice flying plane until I went brain dead. Trying to noodle out a better way to route the servo wires from the upper wing to the receiver in the fuselage. Currently running them down the cabane covered with heat shrink tube. On my DR1 I used aluminum tube but that was a pain. Any suggestions?

I forget, do you have a 3D printer? There might be a 3D printed option too. Unless you just want to do bottom ailerons. Just as an update, I got half of the mig base cut out, and also some formers for the P-36. I put the bigger antenna on my FS radio as well. 2022-05-21_11-56-33 by Burkeomatic, on Flickr

Well duh! I hadn't even thought of printing them. It's amazing how you get blinders on just because "that's the way I've always done it". Easy enough to make them just big enough for the wires and then crimp ends on after they're installed. I continue to be impressed by this crimping tool (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OMM4YUY?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_dp_8MY4731PRSZK1TMZ9FDR). A solid crimp every time.

I would buy one, but my insane amounts of tools are insane. I basically have specialty tools for every vehicle I have owned. I bought a small media blaster to clean the intake valves on my car recently.

A man cannot have too many tools! I was putting new flooring in the kitchen and had this conversation with my wife: "I'm going in town to get a casement saw, need anything?" "A saw!?! How many saws do you have?" "Well, counting power saws - 17. But I don't have a casement saw."

Huge mistake. Now I want to add a deck for my house. I guess it gives me a chance to upgrade. My last one didn't have a laser, I need a laser.

LOL Lasers, just the name makes you have to have one.

@burkeomatic thanks for the slap to the head on routing my servo wires. I printed a C shaped cabane with a snap in cover, works like a champ. Then I thought "Why not print the struts?" So printed one with PLA and another with PLA+. Both kind of floppy even at 50% infill and both weigh 6g each while the same size ply is 2g and much stiffer. Think I'll stick to ply for the struts.

Looks good! Sometimes I will spend all kinds of time trying to fabricate something I should have just 3D printed, then I try to 3D print something that would have been better and less time if I had just made it out of a paint stick lol. It takes some discernment. My 3D printer is pretty new to me, so sometimes I forget to use it.
