I was able to keep it from being run over and had a pleasant flight. I'm currently at 1° right and 2° down. It needs more down so keep that in consideration if you build it. Flaps are fairly effective but the ailerons are a little anemic on low rates. Here's the proud parent boring video. If you squint you'll see some loops and rolls.

Looks good and floaty, maybe a good beginner or second plane.

Classy and not overly complicated. I really like that plane.

Thanks, the Staggerwing is just a classy design. I tried to make it a simple build.

I end up always using the polyurethane on white foam. the brown doesnt need it, although i prefer the white with poly (I use the oil based one...) Me too. Minwax works best for me. I'm using the $4 sample size paints from Lowes so it's water based latex. I've still got some FT brown FB left but I'm using it for prototypes and planes that I'm just going to use colored packing tape on. I've only had success painting it with rattle cans. I'm much happier with the white board coated with minwax poly. I can't seem to find the right balance on scuffing up the brown - either not enough for the paint to stick or too much and fuzzy. Staggerwing 3 is almost ready. Wife says I need to do some trim on the tail too. On scuffing up the brown: Exactly. Thank you. I've been asked before and I've mentioned it before, but it seems to be an answer that people don't want to hear. Probably because FT said it in a vid or two, "just go over the surface with some sandpaper and it's fine to paint" so it must be gospel - FT said it. But yeah, I've scuffed the brown to the point of fairly thorough fuzziness and the paint STILL lifts off with masking tape, so what's the point at all? Brown has its uses, and DTFB has its uses.

But yeah, I've scuffed the brown to the point of fairly thorough fuzziness and the paint STILL lifts off with masking tape, so what's the point at all? Brown has its uses, and DTFB has its uses. The brown looks cool stickered up, just lined out with like one color, like they did that FT version of the T-28. The main reason I don't use it, is DTFB is well, a dollar and a quarter and the FT stuff is 3 bucks a sheet, but the point is probably moot, as I don't even see it as an option to buy on their site anymore. Although I only spent about 5 seconds looking. So I could use a quart of minwax and a bottle of wood glue every 6 sheets and break even. That poor black P40 I had got landed in wet fields and flown in rain and was a champ thanks to liberal coats of minwax and wood glue. I don't think one is better than the other, or really care to be honest, although I err on the side of not giving FT my money these days. Build your plane out of what you like and screw what everyone else thinks. As long as you're having fun, that's what it is all about. I may scold you if you buy an overstreet jet though.

I hereby officially chastise all of you for not having fun right! Flite Test foam board is the brown stained standard of the orthodox building of foam board aircraft. It is heresy, heresy I say, to not tithe to the one true forum and organization.
We now return you to your alternate reality which is already in progress......

If anyone was looking for v2.1 of the plans I forgot to load them up, but they are in there now.
