Wow you build fast that's impressive. I have been scratching my head trying to figure out how to construct foamboard wings that are tapered the end panels on the shrike are tapered and I have just trashed a bunch of foamboard trying to fold the shape. So I adapted a section of wing from the FT Explorer but it's not going to look the same.

Rutan’s designs really make use of the canard. The Ares 2, who knew? That looks like and EDF build waiting to happen. How goes work on the Quikie? Any more pictures yet?

And did you see the pics on page 2 of this thread of how the canard went together?

Haven't been up to building this week, was in a car accident on Monday and sitting at the build table just isn't a very comfortable thing to this point, hopefully I will be able to get back on it on the weekend. Upside is I have had lots of time to to work out the rest of the build in my head and on paper so it should be a pretty quick finish. The Ares-2 has been something that has been lurking in the back of my head as a possible 50mm edf candidate, especially since I was told that the scale wouldn't work for it on the "other" forum LOL! IMO its a perfect match. I have lots of drawings and 3 views, I think its a possible build.

Sorry to here about your accident, did it involve your “new” car I saw in a video recently? Looking forward to the resumption of the build, it’s such an intruiging design. I can’t see anything about the Ares-2 that would be a problem. Those forward swept canards look like they would give it some great handling features. If they said it can’t be done, it must be done!

My sentiments exactly LOL!! Lower back and hip feel a lot better today, I might try to sit at the build table and get a bit more work done on the Quickie.

Here is how the landing gear will shape up I think. I am going to try this first and if it doesn't work out I can easily remove the foamboard from the ply plate and try something else, but I think I can make this work ok. Ply plate is glued to the end of the wingtip and epoxied to the landing gear. its not going anywhere LOL! I will install the tire and then cap it off with one more piece of foamboard with the paper left on the outside and then sand the whole thing to a final shape. Should be able to get it to look reasonably close to the real one.
