Just did a glide test and the CG is dead on. With no electronics installed it took an 850 3s battery at the nose to balance. With a light throw I got a smooth 20 foot glide.

Hey! Smart design. Love it. And I love to see some more basic construction techniques now & then too. Thanks! I forgot they don't let the cat on the ft forums anymore. I am the designer and MR NCT is the very good builder lol

Mr NCT is striving to be a mediocre builder but has a way to go. I would say your quite a few bumps up from being a mediocre builder, and you definitely got some paint skills. Keep up the awesome work! (two thumbs up)

More pics. I like being able to get to things so I put a hatch in the bottom and made the engine pod removable. That does it. Who dares take such tight close-up shots? Only one who has absolutely impeccable build skills. Mr NCT officially has Mad Build Skills and is officially putting the rest of us to shame.

Things like that happen when you are designing and building planes like this. It is always hard trying to tease out what caused it, but you are probably right on the thrust angle.

I still think it was for violating quorneng’s first law of battery cables

I still think it was for violating quorneng’s first law of battery cables The battery cables in the Mig 29 are about a foot long, 14 gauge wires feeding 2 EDFs that pull about 70 amps combined. The ones in the dolphin probably add up to a foot too or more. The ones from the battery are about 9 or 10 inches before they get to the FC then another 6 or 7 inches past it. It must be completely remarkable that they both haven't disintegrated in the air.

Double Ender update: Did the repairs and gave the front motor 7° up from the plans. It makes the front edge of the motor pod square with the top. I did a new glide test and confirmed the CG placement with all the electronics but no gear. I launched at low rates and about half throttle. It flies! You'll either have to mix in some rudder or fly with both thumbs.
