Think I am really stepping out of my comfort zone with this. On sale, price was right. Burkeomatic lol Do you think the gps unit from my sparrow controller will work with this? Any recommendations?

Which sparrow do you have... it may? You need a bn180 or 220 for it, my sparrow 3s came with bn180s.
I have some bn880s with compasses for VTOLs, and some others. If you have the 3 wire one, I don't think it will work. You may be able to research and figure it out.
Also, do not buy a bn220 zf gpsn it works with nothing.
As for that gps unit, I bought one too but it was DOA.

A BZ-251 is recommended, This is quite the little controller You can do ardupilot/vtol with them too. Although I think quadplanes are probably more stabile than the tilt rotors. INAV also has vtol capability coming, it is in beta phase right now. Ardupilot is more capable, and INAV/betaflight is a little more easy, but more limited. Both have quite the learning curve. I started with betaflight on quads, but then I got into INAV for gps quads. I finally got into ardupilot with my now sold xiake, but i do like ardupilot better.

Controller arrived, yea there is going to be a steep learning curve but lots of video on it so I think I will probably catch on quick enough. We will see how it performs, need something to put in in now lol!

If you aren't doing a vtol, use INAV

Yea that is what I am going to use. Just seems to be easier from the videos I have watched. Putting mine together today and get it set up, Gps unit arrived yesterday so I am good to go

Putting mine together today and get it set up, Gps unit arrived yesterday so I am good to go I just got mine soldered up today. I loaded ardupilot on it, but I think I may have found a way to squeeze my way into the INAV 7.0 beta testing group. I'm trying to figure out how to stack an AIO FC on mine. I've decided to use one of those instead of the 4 individual ESCs... this was supposed to be a cheap project.
