Well guys I broke a Cardinal rule and have paid the price. The Shrikes commanders maiden flight was about 12 feet long and about ten seconds in duration. I was setting up the electronics to get it ready to maiden next weekend the long holiday weekend in July we celebrate on The first and you guys on the 4th ether way its a long weekend. I was reversing control throws on the ailerons and the rudder but by mistake I reversed channel 3 instead of channel 4 and sent the twin motors to full power with a 4s battery attached and the Dum ass that I am I had the props installed . The power went to full and the plane shot off the work table and flew across the basement into the cement wall. one of the motors broke free of its firewall and proceeded to slice and dice the wing it twisted and chopped its own power wires and shorted out and immediately caught fire the motor and esc went up in flames and this was just in 2 or 3 seconds I got the fire out quick and I'm glad it didn't spread to anything else but the plane was a total write off. Months of work down the drain I was able to salvage most of the electronics but the left motor and speed control were toast! This has been a real shock just how powerful the two motors were on 4s. Guys Never ever ever ever work on a plane with the props on it can quickly Kill your plane and possibly injure you! Keep the Dam props off till your ready to Fly! Im extremely mad at myself months of work down the drain.

Ah man, that's a shame. Glad you weren't hurt or house burned down but you still hate to see that much work go splat.

I'm more mad at myself Tom I should have known better and worked smarter and more cautiously I don't know how many times in Flight Test videos they say don't work on your plane with the Prop on! I know I will remove the prop religiously now before working or testing.

Mistakes happen Randy, don't get too down on yourself. Important thing is you didn't get injured and you didn't burn the house down. You did an awesome job on that plane and too bad it ended that way. Build fly crash and repeat! Scary when shit like that happens, glad you are ok.

Yes Lesson learned and I already have plans to rebuild a better next version. Mind you it shows the old axiom haste makes waste.I will not be flying a twin this summer but I'm going to work on building a foam cutting hotwire bow and try the building technique that Flight Test has been using for it's megaprojects it could speed builds up considerably.I have to tell you I'm still a little in shock that model shot of the build table like it was fired out of a canon everything went south in a matter of a second.Im going to order a replacement 2212 1400KV motor if I can get the twin replaced then I'm going to build something I have dreamed of building an Avro Lancaster with 4 engines I have plans that I have found on the internet a while back.

Can't wait to see the rebuild and the Lancaster sounds like an awesome project. Very ambitious.

I've done that too man, I am glad you are ok and you got the fire put out.
I forget, was that those value hobby motors I pointed you to? If so, those things have some pull on 4S.
