Having such fun with the little one I had to make a big one LOL. Started this on Sunday, hoping to finish up the fuse tonight and get a start on the wings. Plans were so-so and I had to make a few adjustments here and there. Weight is not too bad but I can make it a little better by removing some more unnecessary wood and foamboard. Absolutely zero hot glue so far so that is helping with weight as well.    Looking good, is that wood the result of a very steady and persistent hand or a laser cutter? |

Hand cut, the time to redraw and cut on the laser, it was quicker LOL.

its 2.5 mm ply, not super easy to cut by hand but Its done lol.

I actually did that on the F-35, didn't want to cut the wood reinforcements out of ply (plus it is overpriced here) so I drew them up and printed them out on the printer. |

Just some more progress. Tail feathers are glued in and the cowl is starting to take shape. Wings and hatch parts are all cut and ready to go, should be looking very much Bearcat like after tonight. Is it me or do the tail feathers look a little on the large side?    Looks good, it is good to see you building again. |

Nice to be building again, missed this. Hatch is done, Fuse is as far as I can take it until I get the wing built. That is a big wing LOL!   |

Another beauty! How do you get the pattern for the fuselage skins? Exactflat, rollation, guestimation? I'm still struggling with that on my QED. Both exactflat and rollation get close but each piece needs to be custom trimmed and I end up doing way too much filling. Or does your vinyl cover a multitude of sins? It's been very frustrating for me.

It's been very frustrating for me. I actually do it by hand, pin a piece of paper to area I want to cover then trace it out. Tried several different ways but this seems to work for me. On this one I am going to seam along the middle sides of the fuse instead of seaming at the bottom. I think it will work a little easier that way and will look pretty good in the end. I will take some pics of how I do it, don't think I have ever documented that, its pretty straightforward and like I said it seems to work pretty good. |
