Pending Federal Drone Regulation (AKA More Bullcrap)

Pending litigation.... just so you all know. I know it is BS, I don't like it, don't shoot the messenger. The main takeaway as related to Remote ID (RID), in addition to being a civil slapfight in the FAA kangaroo court (if they catch you) it will actually be a federal offence to alter, disable, or not implement RID. 

IMPAIRMENT OF IDENTIFICATION OR LIGHTING.—It shall be unlawful to, in violation of Federal law, knowingly and willfully—



“(A) remove, obliterate, tamper with, or alter the identification number of the unmanned aircraft;



“(B) disable or fail to effect any required identification transmission or signaling of the unmanned aircraft; or



“(C) disable or obscure any required anti-collision lighting of the unmanned aircraft or fail to have or illuminate such lighting as required.

Punishable by:

Penalties.—Any person who violates subsection (b)—



“(1) in the case of a violation of paragraph (2), (3), or (4) of that subsection, shall be imprisoned for not more than 5 years, fined under this title, or both;

Of course if you even talk, threaten or think about it

Inchoate Offenses.—



“(1) IN GENERAL.—Whoever threatens, attempts, or conspires to commit an offense under subsection (b) shall be subject to the same punishment under subsection (d) as for a completed offense.

Of course, the government doesn't have to follow their OWN rules.

Exceptions.—



“(1) GOVERNMENT-AUTHORIZED CONDUCT.—Subsection (b) shall not apply to conduct by or under the authority of, authorized by, or pursuant to a contract with, the United States or a State, Tribal, or local government, or any department or agency of the United States or a State, Tribal, or local government.

Land of the free eh? It's getting bad everywhere and without any vigorous push back from any of the groups trying to fight it will continue. Question is : How enforceable is it all? How does that all affect events like the upcoming Flitefest? Are we suddenly going to see drone cops everywhere? It all comes down to being another government money grab IMO, Rc cars ,trucks and boats will be next no doubt. My response is stick the middle finger up and keep on doing what I am and have been doing and feign ignorance when the drone cops show up. I agree its all total BS.

People in Texas don't take too kindly to that kind of stuff. Actually, many states don't particularly care for it. 

Unfortunately, I live in one of the few Texas areas full of socialist snitches. However, on the flipside, the police are so occupied with cartel activity, human trafficking, and the general issues associated with being next to Mexico they aren't terribly worried about it. I might have to find a new place to fly, but in general, most people don't care. If I go LRFPV with my planes, no one knows they're up there. 

But Texas in general, not wanting to deal with the feds crap, and after all I needed a suppressor for my weapons, because I can, and Texas passed this.
