My first scratchbuild quad

Goals are a ready to rock cinewhoop for around 100 bucks. Let's see how it goes. It is definitely cheaper to buy used quads. But then you have other people's workmanship to deal with. I damn near lost my 7 inch because FPV feed dropped out and I was about 100 feet in the air.. nerve racking. You have a hard time getting orientation that high. If I didn't have good eyes, it would have been lost.

Started printing this with glow in the dark pla. We shall see how it goes.

The glow in the dark PLA can be a pita to work with. I got the top and bottom plates done, but for some reason, it kept clogging on the thrust ducts. So I ended up printing them in peak green. So far it seems to be going together pretty well.



Prices are

50 for the FC stack including ESC.

25 for motors.

12 for the EP2 receiver.

So 13 left for misc material like nuts, pla, and standoffs.

So under 100 for a quad, but no FPV gear.

I will be using a EACHINE TX805 with a camera I bought in a big lot of FPV gear. So if you were building it, add another 40-50 bucks for FPV gear.

So I am in 87 dollars, but I also know not everyone lucks into a big old ziploc bag of FPV parts for 30 bucks like I did.

I am almost done. The parts to finish it come in today, but I have to fly home at a last minutes notice. I will be out of pocket for the next few days.

It flies! And sounds badass. I think I need to transform this into a ducted fan setup for foamies. It sounds more like a jet than some edfs do.

I have ordered a roll of carbon reinforced PLA. If you look closely, you can see the parts flying. Glow in the dark is cool, but let's face it, I'll never use it, and it isn't functional. It shattered and I couldn't find all the pieces. Killed a couple of planes performing this maneuver too.
