I was looking for a beginner quad that both my daughter and me could learn on. I was looking at some of the 65mm and 75mm 1s ones, but by most accounts those sucked outside, or were mediocre in the conditions I have. I had narrowed my search down to the mobula7 but all of the elrs ones were out of stock. So I broadened my horizons a little bit and I was perusing through RDQ when I saw the CETUS x. I hadn't really seen anyone talk it up. Mainly because the only way you could get it was in a kit with goggles and a controller. So I didn't need all that. But this was 25 bucks more than the mobula, and it ran on 2s, and would handle outside, maybe a little rowdy for inside, but I thought we could try it. betafpv.com/products/cetus-x-brushless-quadcopterLooks badass too. I have had a couple of toy grade quads, they weren't hard to fly at all. So I figure this will work out ok and have replaceable parts. Has the FPV stuff and ELRS already installed. If I like it I can get a larger outdoor one. She can fly toy grade ones ok too, well, they just suck though. Who knows where this road will take me. I don't really like the world of 5 minute flight times and such, but we shall see. Grabbed a couple more ELRS rxs too. I need one for my upcoming twin build, and also I think I will run my little EDF glider on elrs. I may have stupid plans for that plane.

Well welcome to the wonderful world of Quads They have a different personality to fixed wing. I love mine for when I don't have time for an excursion and can just pop out in the back yard and get some stick time. They are also great platforms for video taking and photography.

Yeah, I like this thing. It took some dialing in on betaflight. I ended up putting some expo in the throttle, where it basically flattens the throttle curve in the middle. I see where that would eventually become annoying, but right now, the way it was on my tx, one notch of the throttle and it would climb, and a notch lower and it would drop, you really couldn't get it to hover. The expo took care of that. Of course the tradeoff is that it drops faster and lifts of faster at the end of the spectrum. It handled 9 mph winds today with gusts up to 15. It was a struggle, like trying to fly the zohd drift, but it made it. It is outdoor capable. Still got a 5 minute flight time with all the wind. I just don't want to go too far away when it is windy like this.

I am actually really liking this thing. It has way more performance than I thought it would. The only negative so far is that it takes 2 batteries, only betafpv makes them, and they are about 7.50 a pop. So 15 per pack essentially. I took it out tonight. It does decent at night, not great, but not poorly. It isn't as good as the caddx ratel at night, but it is effective enough, and better than my foxeer razor, and sure as hell better than the eachine camera. Not bad for a 120 dollar drone. It is way faster and resilient in the wind than you would think too. I was dead set on the mobula 7 before I found this. Good thing the mobulas were sold out. I think they have elrs and frsky versions. I was also perusing the classifieds on rcg last night, and I was also, right before that looking for the next quad I was going to move up to. I wasn't sure whether I wanted a 5 inch racing quad, or a cinelifter. But I found a TYRO 129 for 110 shipped, so I guess that is my next quad, a 7 inch cinelifter. On the bright side, I have a plethora of action cams to mount on it. www.banggood.com/Eachine-Tyro129-280mm-F4-OSD-DIY-7-Inch-FPV-Racing-Drone-PNP-w-or-GPS-Runcam-Nano-2-FPV-Camera-p-1525150.html?imageAb=1&akmClientCountry=America&cur_warehouse=CN
