Were you thinking of making the wings from DTFB as opposed to balsa or whatever it is he used?

This guy has lots of cool gliders too 3d printed. He made his floonda free, and it looks neat, and there is an option for a motor on it too. I have it downloaded, on the list but on the way off. 3d-printz.at/produkt/floonda-1335mm/#

Yeah I think I could make it work with DTFB but I have this material I print on at work that I use for backlit displays and such.and I am thinking that If I skinned some foam with it (say something like XPS reinforced with a CF tube or styrofoam for that matter) that I could probably get a pretty strong light wing for the size it needs to be , he used balsa for the wing and stabilzer. I have been kicking the can with this idea for a bit now, the material itself is fairly thin, and flexible but has rigidity if that makes sense. I am going to try it out on my oddball/x-plane challenge plane. Stl files for this are really large , parts would need to be split to be able to print. He did include his .dxf files. I am sure I can get something together from what i have, I like the look of this plane. I do have a 6 1/2 foot wing standing in the corner that I probably could frankenstein somehow for it if all else fails and I get lazy LOL!

Yeah some really neat gliders. The Germans have always been big on gliders. I love motor gliders I have flown with Histart Catapults but motor gliders are the way togo. One of my first electric powered planes was a motor glider that i bought in kit form at the Big Model show in toledo OH. It was Called The Electricus and featured one of the first motors adapted from model Cars for aircraft and used 6 sub c nicad batteries.

Kind of wish I had a local glider buddy, it would be fun dragging one in a vertical climb with the dragon.
