Well today being Canada Holiday with everything closed . I went out to my brother in-laws country Property where I fly and got some planes that have been sitting after I built them In the air. I drove a little off my normal route to go by the local model clubs flying field and it was deserted not a soul it always seems to be that way. I have been thinking of Joining M.A.A.C. the Canadian version of the AMA and rejoining the club after a 30 year absence some of the guys I use to fly with are around. It would get kind of boring if there never is anyone else to fly with. The club flying field is about half way between my place and my brother In-laws. I just don't want to get involved in club politics it just ruins the fun of just going out and having a good time its why I left in the first place. Any how on to the report of how things went.
First off was the FB school boy not really a maiden flight more like a second to dial in a little only to find out one of the 3.7 Gram Micro servos in the wing is stripped I will never buy these things but I said screw it I can still fly with one working aileron and the rudder and put it up for a very screwy flight but got it up and down in one piece.
Second was the FT Arrow after doing some repairs form the last time I tried to fly it had to remove more of said 3.7gram servos that stripped and cause a crash into a tree and the ground last time. well after replacing these with metal gear 9 gram servos and adding a little nose weight to adjust the Balance . The first Launch I got into a little tip stall and found the ailerons still too sensitive so I dialed it back and tried again and I got the little wing in the air it was extremely nimble on the roll axis. I managed to get a full battery flight but it was very hectic not relaxing at all kept me on my toes the whole flight but It did fly and extremely fast have to remind myself it is a racing wing. Landed and got a few dents and scratches .
Next Came the Bloody wonder Mark III by Dan Sponholst sorry for the spelling was to lazzy to look it up. I had two crashes trying to get it into the air and broke two cheap Chinese Plastic props and changed to a good 9.45 glass filled prop like I use on the simple Cub and Dialed back the ailerons back to 25% This time the gods were with me and off She went and man does she fly. Alot less stressful then the arrow but just as nimble and quick. I like it! Thanks Sponz she is a great flyer and allot of fun.
Last but not least My adaptation of the classic Mini Fledgling took a little tweaking and also broke a prop but made the necessary adjustments and got her into the air I soon was feeling nostalgic because she flew Just like I remembered the second Trainer I ever flew. She was stable and responsive the best way to sum it up was she few like the way she was suppose to had a little bit of a rough landing but she will live to fly again after I fix some bumps dents and scratches but oh well that's the hobby!
