Nothing over the top, just someone saying 'don't bother me with your tests and data, I'm confident with something I've read somewhere and you're going to crash if you don't believe me.' Then you have vintage Quoreng with his dry better be super safe than sorry better follow the rules thing. He did something like that to me on RCG, it was about the battery I had that sucked. I had a good idea of what happened, the thread discussed it. I ended up with new batteries, that was that. Some dude starts whining that I fly edf jets, and then he comes in. Here it is. He or the other guy ended up reporting me to the moderation staff for trolling to top it off. Which made me have to change my screen name. People that do whiny sniveling stuff like that are people I would take a punch out of their snowflake card in about 5 seconds in real life. www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?4123793-Underrated-C-Rating/page2

I cant not troll those people. I think i am going to go around regurgitating verbatim super informative RC articles and act like I am a pro.

LOL, just make sure the articles you quote adhere to accepted wisdom or you may still be burned at the stake.

Well, I got the reaction I expected over on the other forum. How dare I question popular wisdom and back it up with a test? My favorite part was " From what I understand it is not the voltage of the spike but the energy absorbed by the capacitor to contain it and the heat created that damages the capacitor over time." Not the voltage but the energy? Do volts, amps and resistance somehow decouple because it's in an airplane? Or was Ohms Law repealed while I wasn't looking? Where is Monte.C when you need him? Moooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnttttttttttttttttttteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah I have been watching that over there, once JasonK and quorneng got involved I said to myself "Here we go" LMAO.

OMG that is getting annoying on the other forum. I had to weigh in

Now guys, you had better be extra careful and wrap your plane with bubblewrap, under prop by 2 inches, and install parachutes with triple backup because you never can be too safe.

Ok, jason is being reasonable. Quoreng is being a little insane.
I actually would like to congratulate jason on bringing current into the mix, because if you look at all of the inductance equations, current does play a part.
In laymans terms..... we are trying to use capacitors to soak up spikes in voltage caused by the inductance of the wire..... right? The voltage is resisting change, and there is a spike which accompanies the current change (requested by the ESC) and it tries to turn the juice up real quick, resulting in a spike in the negative side, or turn the juice down real quick, which results in a spike in the positive side of the wire going to and leaving the ESC. When you throttle up real quick, it is like turning a faucet from zero to max, there is a spike in pressure followed by a regulation and more constant flow.
The thing that really sticks out to me, is that no one has bought up any of the other variables that effect inductance through the wire, distance from the other wire, twists and bends in the wire, construction, etc.

I didn't see any larger spikes associated with acceleration or deceleration, the only change was the frequency of the fairly constant amplitude spike.
