Alright, thanks peanut for the idea/inspiration. You were talking about a simple mini plane, and I think I will make my first design for this the xf14c, which is a plane I have always liked. It is going to be built fairly similar to a nerdnic design, which is funny since peanut said he was going to build a nerdnic plane. I actually have the plan mostly drawn up, I just need to figure out a few things on it, and get the posterboard taken care of. Looks like it will probably be a 2 sheeter. This will be about the size of a mini, 32 inch wingspan and about 25 or 26 inches long. I hate how minis are always so narrow, so this is being designed to take the standard FT 2 inch wide power pod. I am not sure what motor it is going to take. I was thinking a 2207 would probably be a good fit for it. You could do a 2212 if you really wanted it to zoom, or a 1806 which would be pretty tame I guess, not sure if the 1806 would fit the full sized motor mount though. I could check. I have the cheapo banggood contrarotating set up which is 2 1806 motors, which should do pretty well with it, I may put them on there if I find some props to fit it. I may not give this a rudder for simplicity, of course the end user could always add one if need be. This is a cool plane I have always liked, it ended up getting beaten out by the F6F for the naval fighter contract.

Yes! I like planes with a big front end like that, it makes them look muscular and tough, like the P-47 or something.

Hopefully I will get these plans wrapped up tonight, print this thing out and get it started at some point this weekend. I am already caught up on school for the week.
The staggerwing is done. I think all I need to do on this is finish up the posterboard, put servo markings on it, and make a canopy.

I am going ahead and starting with the protype. There are a few things still missing for the final plans, but I would like to get it going to know what needs tweaked.

Here is where we are at so far. Formers need a little tweaking but overall going pretty well.

All I need to do is get these aileron servos in and the motor mount finished printing. Glide tests were a success. Sort of makes me want to do more simple builds like this

Wow that counter rotation setup looks menacing like a food processor.

Wow that counter rotation setup looks menacing like a food processor. Ha, thanks, it is mainly for looks, normally you would just want to use a 2207 or 2212 on this. But it is shockingly quiet yet sounds pretty nice. Hoping to maiden tomorrow, lots of wind today. I still sent the staggerwing, but I got blown into a goal post. That is what I am telling myself anyways.

I had intended to maiden this sunday, but it was pretty windy as we have a storm rolling in, and I didn't feel great. Hopefully conditions hold out next weekend.
It feels pretty solid, I don't know how light and floaty it will be.
A couple of things that worry me, the props are on their last leg, I will probably break one when I land.
Not sure I will have enough elevator, I hope I do, but we will see.

That plane looks great. You make it look so easy. Can’t wait to see how it flies. Nice work!
